For the final game of the series, we move to the MCG which will hopefully be packed by Sri Lankan fans, as it’s fair to say the series needs a bit of a lift and vibrancy and Sri Lankans fans can certainly do that.
The Aussies will go into this game with an unassailable lead in the series and will be hoping to keep the momentum going in readiness for a much bigger test against Pakistan in the series that starts on Sunday.
There are likely to be at least 2 changes to the side that played at the Gabba, with Starc to come back, hopefully for Cummins and only because I think he has a lot of cricket to come this season, he’s bowling well and with games to come against the Pakis, I’d keep him on the sidelines.
The other change is sadly Glenn Maxwell going out with Mental health issues. It’s incredible really, when I was watching the other night they had him on the TV mic’d up talking to the commentators and he just seemed in a great mood and spirit. I actually remember thinking, here is a guy that is really enjoying his cricket at the moment. How wrong I was. Just shows that what’s shown on the outside, isn’t what’s necessarily happening on the inside. Ben McDermott will come in for Maxwell for this game.
Haven’t seen or heard much on what’s happening on the Sri Lankan side of things, but the changes they made last game didn’t really work so not sure what else they can try.
Based on what I’ve seen to date, I can’t see the Sri Lankans troubling the Aussies again tonight, though T20 is a funny game at times. Hopefully the Aussies bat first and we can see some fireworks early on.
